7:00 Start

(3 min) Welcome (Pep Philpott, CBC Radio)
Opening prayer (Rev. Peter Pallant); introduced by the moderator

(7 min) Introduction of the candidates by the moderator from brief biographies provided by the candidates before the meeting. The moderator will explain the guidelines and schedule for the evening (provided to candidates prior to the meeting).

(10 min) Opening remarks by candidates (1.5 minutes max each); Candidates will introduces themselves by addressing the question, Who was the greatest influence in their decision to consider public service, and why?  Presentations made in alphabetical order according to surname.

7:20 Round 1 (Issue related)

Moderator opens the first question and answer period.
(75 min) The candidates will have received eight questions [see page 2-4 below].  Each question is related to a documented concern of the churches. Each candidate will be given 1 min, 30 sec to respond to each of the eight questions or concerns (rotating order). Assuming that the candidates and parties have already formulated their positions, this will not be a forum for debate, but an information forum. The moderator will remain neutral. He will be responsible to keep time, and to remind candidates of the parameters of the meeting as necessary. A timekeeper will indicate time at 30 sec remaining (yellow card) and 10 sec (red card).

8:35 - 10 min Break (Last call for Questions to be submitted to the Selections Committee)

8:45 Round 2: Public questions.
Parameters: the questions will be formulated in such a way that Candidates will have an opportunity to speak of their gifts, ideas, and experiences (less issue related; an opportunity for constituents to get to know candidates).
Questions submitted prior to begin of Round 2, will be gathered and vetted (and possibly reworded for clarity) by a selections committee comprised of four area pastors. The Selections Committee members will give the questions to the moderator (approximately 7-10 questions). Each candidate must answer within one minute (or less). The moderator will remain neutral.

9:30 Candidates’ closing remarks (up to 2 minutes each) in reverse order to opening remarks.
The moderator will direct anyone who did not have opportunity to voice their question(s) to see the candidates following the meeting at their individual literature tables in the foyer.
